Bio
Linda Smythe is a California Bay Area Oil painter known for her use of rich color, strong brush strokes & impasto (thick) style of paint application.
“I find great joy in the pure focus & creative outlet oil painting brings. I paint by alternating between brush and palette knife, with loose gestures of shape and form. I infuse the canvas with big, bold color, creating a strong shadow & light. My goal is to evoke a feeling from the viewer, more than perfection.”
Linda enjoys painting from an ongoing collection of gathered photographs. She works with Figurative, Landscape and Still Life compositions, however is often drawn to paint florals, one of her favorite subjects.
